Singapore Magazine: ISSUE 2015 APR-JUN

Bamboobee, a Singapore-based bicycle manufacturer, was set up following Singaporean Sunny Chuah’s 6,103km cycling adventure around Central Asia on a self-crafted bamboo bicycle. Motivated by the desire to make the world a better place to live in, Chuah created a range of eco-friendly and sustainable bamboo bicycles, including what is said to be the world’s first build-it-yourself bicycle kit made of bamboo. Chuah hopes that people would develop a better connection to the environment and to each other through riding his bicycles to explore the larger world. His venture also empowers local communities in China who help harvest and process the bamboo for his bicycles.
