Marrakech is the principal capital of the south. The city’s dazzling centre, the Djemaa el Fna square, is an enthralling and exotic Eastern experience populated by snake-charmers, acrobats and storytellers. Marrakech has a medieval medina and markets. Behind small gates you will discover sultan’s tombs, ancient palaces and Koran schools.
Interesting is the Koutoubia mosque. This 12th century Hispano-Moorish masterpiece inspired the builders of the Giralda in Seville. Also beautiful is the splendid Bahia Palace with its surprising Andalusian garden.
The Dar Si Said Museum is situated nearby. It has great architecture. It also exposes Moroccan art.
