Written and created by Andy Campbell in 2002, Book of Waste is a series of bleak short stories â their language sometimes digitally manipulated, and riddled with branching/looping interactive choices. A young man brings home a loaded gun in a shopping bag; a girl tries to kill herself with laxative; an angry teenage boy falls in love with the school nurse; an isolated writer ponders on the lottery of existence; a cleaner is stalked through a building by a psychopath. Of course, there are no happy endings here â but the characters themselves and the psychological wiring behind the text can prove compelling.
